Essentially this project was intended to develop a series of community trails and bike specific facilities for local residents particularly the local youth of the community. By using the old landfill site and imported clean fill to create these recreation facilities, impacts on the nearby “Bush for Life” site will be minimised in the long term.
Working with the local community, Destination Trails developed a trail network plan to meet the needs of local riders and local government. At this stage we have built the first main “Green Circle” loop and “Blue Square” Flow trail. Plans for a pump track, MTB skills and dirt jumps are in place and can commence once funding and materials can be secured.

Yay! Tara Illa Bike Park in Hahndorf is open!
The new pocket bike park near Hahndorf is open! Thanks to the locals and District Council of Mt Barker for making it all happen. It`s been a pleasure to have been involved. Destination Trails provided the overall trail network design and built the Core Green Loop as well as a Blue Flow Trail. More trails are planned! All running sweet!
